The United States of America is the most popular destination of immigrants from all parts of the world. The USA has over 60 different types of visas. The most popular one is the Green Card, the US immigration visa.
There are five ways of immigration to the United States:
* Sponsorship by a close family member
* Sponsorship by an employer
* Investment
* The Diversity Visa Lottery Program (Green Card Lottery)
* Asylum and refugee status
Sponsorship by a Close Family Member
Next relatives are considered to be "close family members": spouse (husband/wife), fiancé, children, parents, syblings (brothers/sisters). There are different requirements and rules for each kind of close family relatives.
Sponsorship by an employer
Any US-based employer can apply for the work permit on behalf of the candidate. The process of applying for the green Card usualy take a long time. It is recommended to bring the candidate o the USA on a temporary visa and start the whole process while the new employee commences the employment.
Investment
People who are interested in investing in the USA may apply for B1 Business visa and enter the country. After they start a new business or invest their funds in the USA, they may stay in the country with E2 Treaty Investor visa. This visa is temporary and must be renewed every 2 years.
Green Card Lottery
Also known as the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program. Fifty thousand (50,000) Green Cards are available each year for applicants who qualify and take part in the program.
